CLEVELAND METROPOLITAN SCHOOL DISTRICT AND CUYAHOGA COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANNOUNCE FREE SUMMER CAMPS FOR STUDENTS
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C®) are pleased to announce opportunities for more than 1,000 CMSD students through the Summer Pathways Program. One component of the program offers students a wide array of summer camps, free-of-charge. Summer camps include: Tech Kids; Teen Culinary Academy; Adventures for Young Scientists; Young Entrepreneurs Club; Young Photographers Studio; Visual Arts Adventure; and other programs designed for youth and teens. Parents are encouraged to call 866-933-5175 to register their child for a camp.
Eric Gordon, CEO of Cleveland Metropolitan School District, said, “The partnership between CMSD and Tri-C centers around programs to combine fundamental elements for healthy youth development through varied, substantial activities in a positive environment, facilitated by caring adults who can make a difference in young people's lives.”
“The Summer Pathways Program is a part of the College’s existing initiative that provides summer activities for K-12 students in Northeast Ohio. The program components are coordinated through the CMSD’s Office of Intervention Strategies and Tri-C’s Office of College Pathways Programs,” stated Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton, president of Cuyahoga Community College.
In addition to Community and Continuing Education Summer Camps, other components of the program include: Promise Connection, Summer Youth Leadership Camp, Freedom Project Summer Program, High Tech Academy Summer Program, and Summer Promise Academy Science Enrichment Camp.
