Krystal Milam, a junior at the John Hay Early College High School, will give the keynote speech.
Also: Warner Principal Lesley Jones Sessler, who has headed the school since it was founded in 2007, will be giving a farewell address. She is leaving the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to join her husband who is working in another state.
When the single-gender school was started, the organizers created a mission statement and chose wildflowers as its mascot.
“We don’t believe in one size fits all education. Education should cater to students, who are unique and different, like wildflowers, and that is how we are at Warner,” Jones Sessler said. “Wildflowers are unique and perfect for Warner.”
During Arch Day, “students cross under an arch at the end the school year. It’s a moving on ceremony. We tell them the past is behind and we have to learn from it, grow and look forward to a brighter future.” the principal said. “The ceremony celebrates the uniqueness of me.”
